Criminals Run Amok in Dadu Majra Colony; Fear of Police Has Vanished : Narendra Chaudhary
Chandigarh 21 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Chandigarh, Law and order in Dadu Majra Colony has completely collapsed, and criminals have become emboldened. In a recent incident, a chain-snatcher snatched a gold chain from the neck of Maya Devi—a woman sitting outside her home—and fled the scene. The incident was immediately reported to the PCR, but the culprit remains at large. Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating situation in the area, Congress State Spokesperson Narendra Chaudhary stated that fights, robberies, and thefts have become a daily occurrence in Dadu Majra.
He highlighted the following points: **Rising Thefts:** Several motorcycles have been stolen from the area recently, yet the police have failed to find any leads so far. **Threat to Women's Safety:** Drug addicts and anti-social elements harass young women passing through the streets in broad daylight, making it extremely difficult for women to step out of their homes. **Lack of Police Patrolling:** A sense of insecurity has taken root among local residents, as criminals no longer harbor any fear of the police.
Demanding strict action from the SSP, Chaudhary has urged the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Chandigarh Police to take immediate and stringent measures to curb the rising crime rate in Dadu Majra Colony. He specifically appealed for increased and "proper patrolling" by the police—particularly during the night—so that ordinary citizens can feel safe and criminals can be put behind bars.
