Mann Government Evading Implementation of High Court Decisions in Favor of Employees : Sarabjit Kaur Jalandhar
Chandigarh 19 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Sarabjit Kaur Jalandhar, State President of the Contract Multipurpose Health Worker (Female) Union, has issued a joint press statement leveling serious allegations against the Punjab Government. She stated that senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, particularly Harpal Singh Cheema and others, had promised before the elections to regularize contractual employees on a priority basis. However, even after four years in power, not a single contractual employee has been regularized. She further said that due to the government’s delaying tactics, the Contract Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) were compelled to approach the courts. The Hon’ble High Court had ruled in favor of the employees, granting them the right to “equal pay for equal work,” but even after more than a year, these orders have not been implemented.
Sarabjit Kaur added that several meetings were held with Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, and the Mission Director regarding this issue. In every meeting, assurances were given that the High Court’s decisions would be implemented जल्द, but no action has been taken so far. She also mentioned that during a panel meeting held with the Finance Minister on October 31, 2025, similar assurances were given. Frustrated by repeated false promises, the union has now decided to launch an agitation.
She warned that in the coming days, wherever Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema visit in Punjab, the Contract Multipurpose Health Workers (Female) will strongly protest and show black flags. The Punjab Government will be solely responsible for the situation. On this occasion, among others present were Amrik Singh (Mohali), Satinder Kaur (Gurdaspur), Prabhdeep Kaur, Sukhveer Kaur (Tarn Taran), Chanchal Bala (Pathankot), Kuljit Kaur (Amritsar), Bhinder Kaur (Sangrur), Paramjit Kaur (Malerkotla), Amrit Kaur (Ludhiana), Balwinder Kaur (Barnala), Rajinder Kaur (Faridkot), Rajwinder Kaur (Mansa), Veerpal Kaur (Bathinda), Sharanjit Kaur (Kapurthala), Dajinder Kaur (Nawanshahr), Jarnail Kaur (Fatehgarh Sahib), Harwinder Kaur (Patiala), Gurwinder Kaur (Hoshiarpur), Rupinder Kaur (Ropar), Jaswinder Kaur (Fazilka), Gurpreet Kaur (Moga), and Saroj Bala (Ferozepur).
