Dispute in Mohali Housing Society Turns Violent ; Case Registered
S.A.S.Nagar 26 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A dispute during a society meeting in Sector 79 escalated into violence, with allegations of assault against a member at a Housefed Society. According to the complaint filed by Dilpreet Singh, the General Secretary of the society, the incident took place on March 25 during a committee meeting at the society office. During the proceedings, committee member Gurvinder Singh joined the meeting and allegedly lost his temper amid a discussion.
Dilpreet Singh stated that Gurvinder Singh stopped him mid-discussion, verbally abused him in front of other members, and then physically assaulted him. During the altercation, the accused reportedly struck his face with a sharp object and punched him on the head. He also allegedly issued death threats.
Following the incident, other members intervened and separated the two. The victim immediately informed the police by dialing 112. Police arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to the Government Hospital in Phase 6, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have recorded four injuries.
The complaint further mentioned that the accused had previously been involved in disputes with other society members and that earlier complaints had also been filed against him. Sohana Police Station has registered a case against Gurvinder Singh under Sections 126(2) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
