Forest workers stage a massive protest in front of the office of the Forest Divisional Officer, Mohali
S.A.S.Nagar, March 27 (Ranjit Dhaliwal): Today, the Forest Workers Union Punjab, implementing the decision of the state committee through its head office (1406/22-B, Chandigarh), staged a massive protest in front of the office of the Forest Divisional Officer, Mohali. Led by District President Sulakhan Singh Siswa, the leaders said that the decision of the Punjab government to withdraw the budget for the salaries of the workers is extremely unfortunate, no matter how much it is condemned, it is not enough. This has happened for the first time in history, for which this government will have to pay the price in the coming time.
Among other demands, the remaining 14 workers who had completed 10 years of service by 2006 and senior illiterate workers should be made regular immediately, like the employees regularized in 2011, the employees who have now been made regular should also be given basic pay, dearness allowance, medical allowance and rural allowance, the withheld budget of salaries for February and March should be sent immediately, the salaries of workers working in the forest department should be ensured to be paid on the 7th of every month, the remaining arrears of the workers should be released immediately, the seniority list of workers working in the forest department should be updated up to 31/312026, work should be done through Mastola in the forest department instead of MNREGA, new works should be started in the department, etc. are the main demand.
Jagtar Singh, Vir Chand, Sukhvir Singh Siswa Range, Sukhwinder Singh Randhir Singh Anand Kharar Range, Shinder Singh, Amandeep Singh Karala, Nathu Khan, Sudagar Khan, Dilbagh, Gurwinder Singh Haripur, Guddu Dera Bassi Range and Sukhwinder Singh Khamanon Range were present in today's protest. They announced that if the government does not resolve the demands by holding a meeting soon, the struggle will be intensified.
