Livasa docs bust myths around dialysis
Khanna 11 March ( PDL ) : While addressing various common myths surrounding dialysis, the doctors at Livasa Hospital, Khanna on Wednesday said that dialysis should not be feared and is not always permanent. Addressing a press conference Dr. Deepali Kaushal consultant-nephrology and transplant physician at Livasa said that in certain cases such as acute kidney injury, dialysis may only be required temporarily until kidney function improves. Awareness and timely medical consultation are key to better outcomes, she opined.
Uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure are among the leading causes of chronic kidney disease, she informed. “Kidney disease often progresses silently, and many patients remain unaware until significant damage has occurred. People with diabetes or hypertension must undergo regular screening and maintain strict control of their blood pressure and blood sugar levels,” Early detection and timely treatment can significantly delay or prevent kidney failure, elaborated Dr. Deepali.
Highlighting the surgical aspect of kidney and urinary tract care, Dr. Angadjot Singh consultant-urologist and endourologist at Livasa Hospital Khanna, said that advancements in technology have made treatment for kidney stones and other urological conditions much safer and more effective. “Advanced laser endourology techniques are now being used for the treatment of kidney and ureteric stones. These procedures are minimally invasive, involve no external cuts, cause minimal bleeding, and allow patients to recover faster,” said Dr. Singh.
