March 23 to be celebrated as Anti-Imperialism Day, big demonstrations to be held in Patiala district

Patiala 17 March (PDL): An important joint meeting of the United Kisan Morcha, central trade unions, employee federations, electricity employee organizations and labor organizations was held today at Gurdwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib under the chairmanship of Darshan Singh Belumajra. During the meeting, the leaders decided to celebrate March 23 as 'Anti-Imperialism Day', remembering the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and his comrades. The leaders said that today's governments are going against the dream of a free and equal country that the martyrs had dreamed of. The central government, under pressure from imperialist countries, is making anti-people laws that benefit corporate houses and foreign powers by selling the interests of the country's working people.

These protests to be held at the tehsil level will be against the India-US Free Trade Agreement, the Electricity Amendment Bill 2025 and the Seed Bill, the four labor codes being implemented from April 1 and anti-labor schemes like 'Ji Ram Ji' will be strongly opposed. The leaders strongly condemned the killing of innocent people by the US through wars to maintain its dominance globally. As a protest, effigies of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be burnt on March 23. Block-level joint meetings will be held on March 18 for the success of these actions. In Patiala district, these main protests will be held at Patran, Samana, Nabha, Rajpura, Ghanaur and Patiala. The meeting was attended by Dharampal Seal, Raminder Singh Patiala, Kulwant Singh Maulviwala, Balraj Joshi, Harbhajan Singh Dhuhar, Avtar Singh Korjiwala, Pawan Shogalpur, Harbans Singh Dadhaira, Davinder Singh Punia, Uttam Bagri, Gurcharan Singh, Sukhdev Ram Sukhi, Dharampal Lot, Deepak Kumar, Mangat Singh and Baljinder Kheri, among others.
