SAD receives major boost with 100s of Sarpanches / Panches and Zila Parishad / Block Samiti members joining the party in the presence of Sukhbir S Badal.

Tarntaran 20 March ( PDL ) : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) received a major boost in this constituency with hundreds of Sarpanches and Panches, Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members joining the party in the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Among those who joined the SAD included Sheron Sarpanch Avtar Singh Billa, Zila Parishad member Darshan Kaur and  Ramandeep Kaur besides hundreds of other elected members and their supporters. 

Thanking the leaders for showing faith in the policies and programmes of the SAD, Badal said “the very fact that thousands of people have congregated here at such a short notice shows the enthusiasm people have towards their regional party”. Asserting that the SAD was committed to the development of the border areas, Badal said “the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have failed to do anything for the border belt”. He said the SAD would come out with a special industrial package for the border belt once it formed the government in 2027. He also announced that the SAD would increase the compensation for farmers tilling land across the barbed wire fence along the international border with Pakistan.

Badal also announced that efforts would be made to provide maximum jobs to border youth. “Industrialists wishing to set up their units here will be given concessions but they will have to reserve 75 per cent jobs for Punjabis”. He also disclosed that the next SAD government would establish a Skill University whose purpose would be to involve the corporate sector to train youth as per the demands of the industry.
