Moonak/ Chandigarh 24 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann not to make excuses for not recommending a CBI probe into the disturbing death of Warehousing Corporation officer Dr Gagandeep Singh Randhawa at the hands of his former minister Laljit Bhullar and asked him why he was not taking action against Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring if he knew the latter was hand in glove in the extortion cum suicide case of a Faridkot businessman. Addressing a massive gathering here which reflected the support the SAD is getting in Sangrur district along with Lehra Gaga halka incharge Gagandeep Singh Khandebad, the SAD president said it was ridiculous that Bhagwant Mann had just realized that a Faridkot businessman committed suicide after killing his 2 children due to extortions made by Punjab Congress president Raja Warring’s brother in law Dimpy Vinayak. “The chief minister should tell Punjabis why he has been silent on this issue for four years and why he was not taking action in the matter even now”.

Sukhbir Badal said the chief minister should also tell why he continued to brandish a file containing details of an Rs 100 crore scam by Raja Warring involving fabrication of 814 State buses from Rajasthan despite lower quotes from Punjab fabricators during his tenure as Transport minister in 2021-22. He said the fact of the matter was that both the CM and Raja Warring were colluding with each other and continued to play a friendly game. “If Bhagwant Mann has the guts he should take action against Warring instead of using the issue of lack of CBI probe in Faridkot extortion cum suicide incident to let former Transport minister Laljit Bhullar off the hook in the Dr Gagandeep Singh Randhawa suicide case”. Speaking about the Lehra Gaga constituency and its neighouring areas, Mr Badal said “the SAD is aware that the Ghaggar River needs to be tamed. I am committed to the complete channelization of this river from Himachal to the Punjab border with Haryana. This is my guarantee to you”. He also spoke on how the farmers of this region had been betrayed by the AAP government with chief minister Bhagwant Mann going back on his promise to give compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre for crop damage besides compensating people for livestock loss. “You know you have got nothing with the AAP government and the centre passing the blame on each other. You also know how the entire SAD including Gagandeep Khandebad came to your help during the devastating floods when you were abandoned by both the centre and the State governments”.
Stating that the AAP government was trying to deceive Punjabis again by claiming it would give Rs 1,000 per month to general women and Rs 1,500 per month to those from the reserved category, Mr Badal said “the AAP government has taken a loan of Rs 52,000 crore and has sold government land to give this allowance to women for six months”. He said in this process the government has also withheld power subsidies to PSPCL. This will spell doom for Punjab and its farmers”, he added. Laying out his vision for Punjab, Badal said the SAD would not allow water to flow into the Rajasthan canal. “All water diverted from the Rajasthan canal will be diverted to the fields of Punjab. He also announced that the Aata- Dal scheme which had been steadily restricted from 30 kg of flour being given to each beneficiary being reduced to 15 kg during Congress rule and only 5 kg now, would be again expanded to 30 kg per beneficiary. The SAD president also announced that an Rs 10 lakh interest free loan would be offered to youth besides restarting an expanded Aata Dal scheme and raising old age pension to Rs 3,100 per month and Shagun allowance to Rs 1 lakh. He also announced all farmers bereft of a tubewell connection would be given this facility besides 12 hour power supply in day time, establishment of a World Skill University and 75 per cent subsidy for dairy and poultry ventures. Senior leaders who spoke on the occasion included Arvind Khanna, Winnerjit Singh Goldy, Tajinder Singh Sanghreri, KJS Cheema, Ranjit Singh Katron, Gulzari Moonak, SGPC member Gurlal Singh Fatehgarh, and Paramjit Kaur Virk.
