Children’s Day Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm by Nature 9 Foundation and Residents’ Welfare Society, Sector 42

Event Held Under the Guidance of Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty

Chandigarh 14 November ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Last day The birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, is celebrated across the country as Children’s Day. On this occasion, a vibrant and colourful programme was organized on Friday at the Community Centre, Sector 42, through the joint efforts of Nature 9 Foundation and the Residents’ Welfare Society, Sector 42, under the guidance of Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty. Around 300 children from various schools of Chandigarh enthusiastically participated and showcased their talents. Member of Parliament from Chandigarh, Manish Tewari, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while HS Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Congress Party, attended as the Special Guest. Municipal Councillor Prem Lata was also present as a guest on the occasion. All dignitaries appreciated the enthusiasm and talent of the children and congratulated the organizers.

A variety of engaging competitions were organized for the children, including painting, singing, declamation contest, clay modelling, lemon-spoon race, and sack race. At the end of the programme, refreshments and participation certificates were distributed to all participants. Jaskanwal Jeet Kaur and Music Director RV served as jury members who evaluated the artistic performances of the children, while Naval Kishore played a key role in conducting the field events. Extending Children’s Day greetings, HS Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Congress Party, said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had immense love for children, which is why his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day. He highlighted Nehru’s invaluable contributions, noting that Nehru took charge of the nation when even basic items like needles were not produced in India. He spoke about Nehru’s life, stating that Nehru chose struggle over comfort and fought alongside Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom movement, placing India on the global map and working tirelessly for the nation’s all-round development. He urged children to follow the ideals and teachings of Pandit Nehru.
Approximately 300 children from nearly 12 schools took part in the event. Neeraj Sood, Director of Nature 9 Foundation, stated that the objective of the programme was to promote self-reliance, skill development, and self-confidence among children so that they can contribute to fulfilling Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s vision of a modern, strong, and developed India. Members of the Foundation and the Society played an important role in making the programme a grand success.
