Bank employees under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions staged a protest today for their demands.
Chandigarh 24 December ( ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A large number of bank employees, under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU)— *comprising AIBOC, AIBEA, NCBE, BEFI, INBEC, INBOC, NOBW, and NOBO*—held nationwide demonstrations at all State Capitals today. In Chandigarh, the protest was held at Bank Square, Sector 17, Chandigarh with strong participation from all Public Sector Banks. Over 800 employees joined the demonstration.
The agitation focused on a single, long-pending demand: the *immediate implementation of the five-day work week for bankers*, as agreed in the last wage settlement/joint note signed in March 2024. It is important to note that nearly two years are about to be completed, yet the agreed demand remains unimplemented. The employees urged the Government to honour its commitment and implement the five-day work week without any further delay.
