Owners Welfare Association of Panchkula Sector 7 seeks urgent administrative action over mounting civic concerns

Panchkula 26 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The Owners Welfare Association (OWA), Panchkula Sector 7, has urged immediate intervention from civic authorities over deteriorating infrastructure and rising public safety concerns in the area.

Representing 35 life members and more than 200 associate members, the association noted that Sector 7, located at the tri-junction of Panchkula, Chandigarh and Manimajra, requires urgent attention due to its high-traffic and sensitive location. Persistent civic shortcomings, residents said, are affecting sanitation standards, public safety and infrastructure stability.

OWA president Col (Retd) Sandeep Bhanot said irregular waste collection has resulted in overflowing garbage bins and unhygienic surroundings. He called for daily mechanised cleaning, strict enforcement of anti-littering norms and a robust monitoring mechanism. The association also flagged security concerns along the open nallah boundary, demanding perimeter fencing, installation of security grills, round-the-clock CCTV surveillance, increased police patrolling and proper verification of street vendors.

Highlighting the menace of stray dogs and monkeys, the OWA sought sterilisation drives and scientific population control. Residents further complained of damaged roads, lack of speed breakers, unsafe pedestrian paths and tangled overhead cables posing accident risks. Encroachments in the Sector 7 market, delay in completion of the community centre, overloaded transformers, erratic water supply, clogged drains and billing issues were also raised. The association demanded a clear roadmap for the community centre with completion within six months.

Residents expressed concern over the garbage collection point near homes and schools and sought its relocation with proper waste segregation and composting facilities. The OWA has requested a joint meeting with municipal departments and police within two weeks and called for a time-bound action plan. We are committed to working collaboratively for a cleaner and safer Sector 7,” Col (Retd) Bhanot said.
