Punjab at the bottom of Fiscal Heath Index under AAP
NITI Aayog has exposed AAP’s fake claims : Warring
Says, Congress stands vindicated on state’s fiscal health
Reiterates demand for White Paper on Punjab’s fiscal health
Chandigarh 13 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the NITI Aayog’s latest Fiscal Health Index of 18 major states has exposed the Aam Aadmi Party’s fake claims about progress in Punjab as the state has been placed at the bottom of the index. “Punjab has been ranked at the bottom of 18 major states of the country on the Fiscal Health Index”, he noted while remarking, “the NITI Aayog report is a scathing indictment of the AAP’s colossus failure which has pushed the state to the bottom of the fiscal health index and virtual bankruptcy”.
Warring reiterated his demand for a White Paper on the state of Punjab’s fiscal health so that people of Punjab know how the AAP has destroyed Punjab economically, socially and in terms of law and order. The PCC president said that the Congress has been time and again warning the government against its “wanton extravagance” at the cost of Punjab’s fiscal health and the consequences are before all of us.
The fiscal health index, he noted, evaluates the states on five parameters, which include revenue mobilization, expenditure quality, fiscal prudence, debt levels and debt sustainability. Punjab, he pointed out, scored just 12.4 out of 100, placing it at the bottom.
Warring recalled how the AAP leaders would claim to turnaround the revenues of the state citing imaginary figures like curbing corruption and illegal sand mining. “All of them stand badly exposed today”, he remarked.
