AAP Squandering Punjab’s Public Money for Political Propaganda : Tarun Chugh
Chandigarh 05 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today launched a blistering attack on the AAP government in Punjab, accusing it of recklessly wasting public funds collected through taxes while ignoring the real issues faced by the people of the state.
Chugh said that Punjab is currently going through a serious economic and administrative crisis, but instead of addressing core challenges, the Bhagwant Mann-led government is busy diverting attention through misleading advertisements and political gimmicks.
Chugh alleged that hard-earned taxpayers’ money is being misused for AAP’s political expansion in other states, rather than being utilised for the welfare of Punjab’s citizens. He termed this as a “betrayal of public trust” and a dangerous misuse of state resources.
Raising serious concerns over financial mismanagement, Chugh said that there has been a sharp rise in wasteful government expenditure with no visible benefit reaching the common man. He added that development has taken a backseat while propaganda has taken centre stage.
Highlighting the plight of government employees and pensioners, Chugh pointed out a glaring disparity in Dearness Allowance (DA). He said that while neighbouring states are providing around 54% DA, Punjab employees are still stuck at approximately 38%, resulting in significant financial losses for lakhs of families. Chugh said that instead of addressing this injustice, the AAP government is spending crores of rupees on self-promotion through advertisements in newspapers, television, and digital platforms.
“This reflects the misplaced priorities of the Mann government. On one hand, employees and senior citizens are struggling for their rightful dues, and on the other, public money is being burned for political publicity,” Chugh said. He demanded that the Punjab government come clean on its expenditure and ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds. He also urged the government to prioritise governance over propaganda and focus on delivering real benefits to the people of Punjab
