Chandigarh 18 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Former Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Councillor Shakti Prakash Devshali strongly condemned Congress and its allies for plotting to defeat the Women's Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha. He described it as a direct attack on women's empowerment and a vile ploy to undermine the BJP government's 'Nari Shakti Vandan' campaign.

Devshali stated that the opposition to the bill by Congress and its allies proves these parties are inherently anti-women and cannot tolerate women becoming empowered. The nation's 'Nari Shakti'—representing half the population—has been awaiting this bill for three decades. The BJP government under revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee attempted to pass it in 1998, 1999, and 2003, but could not succeed. From 2004 to 2014, when Congress had a clear majority, they never bothered to get it passed in Lok Sabha.

Vehemently condemning Congress and its allies, Devshali said, "They perpetually play vote-bank politics and are terrified of the BJP's efforts to empower women. This party, which pretends to champion women's rights, stands exposed by its opposition to the bill—their agenda is merely to seize power through false promises, not women's empowerment."

Devshali reminded that BJP governments have empowered women by providing 33% reservation from Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh, while under Congress rule, women were fed only empty promises. He appealed to women in Chandigarh and Jalandhar to avenge this betrayal. "Those opposing the empowerment of half the nation's population will not be forgiven by the people. They will suffer the consequences of betraying 'Nari Shakti' for many decades to come."
