Chandigarh 16 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the call of the Joint Action Committee of the Punjab Civil Secretariat, employees today organized a historic and massive rally at Punjab Civil Secretariat-1 against the AAP Government. For the first time in the history of the Secretariat, employees from Directorates and regional offices participated in large numbers. A notable highlight of the rally was that employees of Punjab Civil Secretariat-2 completely vacated their office building, raised slogans against the government, and marched to join the main rally at the Secretariat. The anger of employees against the AAP government was clearly visible during the rally. The Joint Action Committee expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble High Court and the Hon’ble Judges for delivering a decision on Dearness Allowance (DA) in favor of employees based on facts and rules. The advocates and petitioners involved in the DA case were also honored.
Employee leader Sukhchain Singh Khehra, while raising slogans Yudh Sarkar Virudh, stated in his address that the Aam Aadmi Party government is deliberately suppressing employees through a well-planned policy. He alleged that employees’ DA and income tax money is being misused to influence voters. He emphasized that DA is the rightful entitlement of employees, but the government is refusing to grant it and instead using those funds to distribute freebies to the public for electoral gains. He further asserted that employees will not allow such tactics to succeed and will establish a strong employee vote bank to politically defeat the AAP government.
During the rally, Advocates Baldev Singh Mann and Sunny Singla provided details of the DA case, while the main petitioner, Gurvinder Singh, also addressed the gathering. Sushil Kumar Fauji, President of the Punjab Civil Secretariat Staff Association, and Sahil Sharma, General Secretary, informed that the association has filed five separate cases in the Hon’ble High Court regarding various employee demands. They stated that the government had come to power promising restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and resolution of other issues, but has now backed away from these commitments. They warned the government to resolve all employee issues on a priority basis, failing which it should be prepared to face serious consequences in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.
Several office bearers of the Punjab Civil Secretariat Joint Action Committee, including Manjit Singh Randhawa, Parmdeep Singh Bhabat, Malkit Singh Aujla, Mithun Chawla, Balraj Sindh Daun, Alka Chopra, Kulwant Singh, Sikandar Singh, Jasvir Kaur, Bajrang Yadav, and Satyawan Saroha (President, Haryana Civil Secretariat), along with officials from the Directorate offices of Chandigarh and Mohali, including Amit Katoch, Davinder Singh Bainipal, Harnek Singh, Harcharanjit Singh, Manpreet Singh, Prof. Dinesh Nimbaria, Manpreet Kaur, Balwinder Singh, Harpreet Kaur, Karnvir Singh Gill, Rajinder Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, Jasvir Singh, and Ranjot Singh, also participated in the rally and shared their valuable views.
