Chandigarh 18 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A meeting of various federations under the banner of Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha,UT and MC was held today. It was decided anonymously to celebrate International Labour Day with a grand workers' gathering and programme in Sector 23, Ground Chandigarh opposite the Cricket Stadium and intimation was also given to administration. This celebration aims to pay tribute to martyrs and honour the contributions of labourers, regular, daily wagers contractual, and outsourced employees working under the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation.
It will also serve as a platform to highlight and press for the long-pending demands of employees, including job security, one time regularisation of daily wage -contractual workers in the absence of any Central Policy, Similar Wage to Similar Work, protection against arbitrary terminations, and an end to the exploitation and discrimination of Outsourcing Workers in GeM portal by engaging the Outsourcing Workers through Government Centralized Agency.
The event will feature addresses by leaders of various affiliated unions and federations under the Morcha,and resolutions reaffirming the unity and resolve of the workforce. All employees, workers, and supporters are cordially invited to participate in large numbers and make the programme a grand success. The meeting was attended prominent leaders of Federation of UT and MC employees, Joint Action committee of UT and MC employees,Joint Employees Welfare Association,UT SS Federation, Chandigarh and All Contractual Karamchari Sangh Bharat, Chandigarh.
