Mohali’s Major Arshdeep Singh Gill Honored with ‘Kirti Chakra’; Foiled Terrorist Plots in the Northeast

(The country’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award conferred for bravery on Republic Day)

S.A.S.Nagar 27 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the eve of Republic Day, Major Arshdeep Singh Gill (Armoured, 1 Assam Rifles), a brave officer of the Indian Army, was announced as a recipient of the 'Kirti Chakra' by the President for his extraordinary bravery and courage. It is noteworthy that the Kirti Chakra is the second-highest gallantry award presented during peacetime.

According to available information, Major Arshdeep Singh Gill demonstrated exceptional leadership during an operation in the dense forests of the Northeast. He fearlessly countered an ambush laid by enemies. Despite heavy firing and thick foliage, he advanced toward enemy positions and neutralized several armed cadres, including a dangerous terrorist equipped with an RPG (Rocket-Propelled Grenade) launcher. Most importantly, through his tactical acumen and daring, he ensured zero casualties within his unit.

Major Arshdeep Singh Gill is the son of the late Sukhchain Singh Gill and Smt. Sukhwant Kaur. His achievement has brought immense pride not only to his family but to all of Mohali and Punjab. According to family members, the position Major Arshdeep holds today is the result of the hard work and blessings of his parents and elders.
