Prominent personalities honored at the first CSNA Awards ceremony organized by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy
Chandigarh 26 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The first CSNA Award Ceremony, organized by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, honoured eminent personalities for their outstanding contributions to the fields of art, music, dance, and theatre. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Awards were presented across various categories. Umesh Kant was honoured for Theatre Direction; Vidushi Suchitra Mitra for Classical Dance (Bharatanatyam); Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur Brar (Sukhi Brar) for Folk Music (Vocal); Pt. Vinod Pawar for Classical Music (Instrumental); Dr. Rinku Kalia for Light Music; Abhishek Sharma for Theatre Acting; Subhashish Guha Niyogi for Stage Craft (Property and Allied Activities); Sardar Swaran Singh Channi for Folk Dance; and Tarsem Chand Kalheri for Choreography. The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred upon Shri S.D. Sharma. Additionally, the ‘Kala Panthi Puraskar (Old Premier Award)’ was presented to Prachin Kala Kendra.
In his address, Governor Kataria said, “Art and culture are powerful mediums that unite society. Honouring artists is akin to preserving our rich cultural heritage.” Dr. Sukhwinder Kaur Brar, Chairperson of the Akademi, stated that CSNA is continuously striving to take Tricity’s talent to the national stage and that the awards are dedicated to the lifelong dedication and sadhana of artists.
