Congress organizes ‘Run for Ambedkar Ji, Run for Constitution’

Thousands of party workers join the mart to save constitution

S.A.S.Nagar 14 April ( Ranjeet SIngh Dhaliwal ) : Thousands of Congress workers led by the PCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today participated in the ‘Run for Ambedkar Ji, Run for Constitution’ march which was taken out here today. Senior Congress leaders including former minister Balbir Sing Sidhu, PCC general secretary organization Capt Sandeep Sandhu and others participated in the march.

Warring said, the march was organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of our constitution. He said, not only was Baba Saheb the messiah of the dalits, the marginalized, the downtrodden and the voiceless, he was the anchor and architect of the sacred book of Constitution that holds the country together and provides justice and equality to everyone.

The PCC president said that the same constitution was being attacked and was under threat from the RSS and the BJP, who have never accepted Baba Saheb’s constitution. He said, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly been flagging the threats to the constitution, which is eventually a serious threat to the idea of India. He said, the enthusiasm among the participants today was reflective of how people respected and admired Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

Warring noted that not only was the RSS and the BJP threatening the unity of the country by polarizing people, they were also trying to undermine even federalism and taking away all the rights and powers of the states. He said Punjab was the worst victim of BJP’s anti-constitutional agenda. The PCC president thanked all the workers and volunteers for coming from different parts of the state to join the march for the constitution and for preserving and safeguarding the idea of India embodied by the constitution.
