Medical Workers performed their duties Wearing Black Ribbons at the Call of the NHM Employees Union:
Symbolic Protest was Held against the Department in Support of their Demands
Chandigarh 10 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Today, on the call of the Chandigarh NHM Employees Union, all NHM employees — Emergency Medical Officers, Ayurvedic Medical Officers, Nursing Officers, Pharmacy Officers, LHVs, ANMs, Lab Technicians, Data Entry Operators, Supervisors of the TB Department, Lab Supervisors, TBHV staff, 112 Drivers & Emergency medical technicians (EMT) , Class-4 employees and other staff members — joined together and wore black ribbons while performing their routine duties. This programme was organized as a symbolic protest. Employees from GMSH-16, Civil Hospital Sector 22, Civil Hospital Sector 45, Manimajra, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs(AAM) and various dispensaries also participated.
Union President Babita Rawat stated that, as every year, employees were supposed to receive both the Central Share and the UT Share. However, even after December 2025, the UT Share has not been released. The union had communicated this issue to the department twice in writing, yet no concrete action has been taken so far. Due to this compulsion, today’s Black Ribbon Day was observed.
Union Chairman Vijay Kumar said that this was only a symbolic protest. If the department does not take an immediate decision, a strong protest will be held on 18 March 2026 in front of the Administrative Block, Sector 16. On this day, all NHM employees will register their protest after completing routine duties and gather at GMSH 16 to show their agitation . If the demands remain unfulfilled, a more intensified agitation plan will be announced. Today’s symbolic Black Ribbon protest was a great success. The union hopes the department will consider their demands sympathetically and will soon release the pending UT share and arrears for the financial year 2025–26.
