Chairman and Election Committee Announce Election for the Post of President to be Conducted via Voting on May 16
Chandigarh 5 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In a crucial meeting of senior executive members—presided over by Chairman Gaya Prasad and the Election Committee of the Class IV Employees Union, Education Department (Regd. 638), U.T. Chandigarh—a decision was taken to conduct the election for the Union President through voting. This election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 16.
Chairman Gaya Prasad stated that the election for the post of Union President will once again be conducted in a transparent and impartial manner, in accordance with Article 13(2) of the Union's Constitution. Regarding this matter, a decision was reached today—May 5—during a meeting of senior executive members presided over by the five-member Election Committee, to the effect that this election will be concluded via voting on May 16, 2026, under a fair and democratic process. Nominations for the post of President may be submitted until May 11, and withdrawals of nominations will be accepted until May 13. The election for the post of President will be concluded through voting on May 16.
He further informed that the Union has submitted a request to the Office of the Labour Commissioner to appoint a responsible officer to oversee the aforementioned election process, ensuring it is conducted in a fair and transparent manner, thereby allowing the election to proceed peacefully and without any disruptions.
Intimation regarding this matter has also been provided to the Director of School Education and the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Labour Commissioner. The Union has appealed to all members to stand united, cooperate in strengthening the organization, and actively participate in this democratic process.
