'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' Party Announces Decision to Contest Punjab Assembly Elections
Major RPS Malhotra Appointed as Punjab President
Chandigarh 5 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' Party has announced its decision to contest the Punjab Assembly elections. This announcement was made today at the Chandigarh Press Club by the party's National President, Dr. Baljit Singh Aulakh. On this occasion, Dr. Baljit Singh Aulakh formally inducted Major RPS Malhotra into the 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' Party and appointed him as the party's Punjab President. Concurrently, it was announced that the Punjab Assembly elections would be contested under the leadership of Major RPS Malhotra.
Major RPS Malhotra stated that successive governments in Punjab have consistently made grand promises and claims to the people, yet have never actually fulfilled any of them. He noted that the 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' Party has been established by the nation's soldiers and farmers—those who have always played a pivotal role in defending the country and ensuring food security for its people. He affirmed that, during the Punjab Assembly elections, the party would specifically champion issues concerning soldiers, farmers, government employees, social security for the populace, and women's rights. Furthermore, healthcare and education services in Punjab would be made free of cost, and employment opportunities would be provided to the youth on a large scale. He pointed out that the youth of Punjab are currently receiving no tangible benefits under the 'Agniveer' scheme; therefore, should the 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' Party form the government in Punjab, it would not only exert pressure on the Central Government to repeal the 'Agniveer' scheme but also provide special reservation to 'Agniveers' to facilitate their recruitment into the Punjab Police. Additionally, in the event of martyrdom, 'Agniveers' would be accorded the status of a martyr, and their families would be provided with financial assistance of ₹1 crore, along with a government job.
Major Malhotra further stated that a special fund of ₹10,000 crore would be established to boost farmers' incomes and to protect them against losses incurred due to natural calamities. He added that, currently, the elderly in Punjab receive a monthly pension of only ₹1,500; this amount would be increased to ₹5,000 per month. Raising his voice in support of government employees, he announced that the OPS (Old Pension Scheme) would be restored in Punjab and that the Dearness Allowance (DA) would be aligned with central government norms. He further stated that special regulations would be formulated to safeguard the interests of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), and fast-track tribunals would be established to resolve matters related to their properties within 60 days. Additionally, arrangements would be made to ensure a five-day workweek and an eight-hour duty shift for the police force.
Major RPS Malhotra alleged that large-scale mining operations are being conducted in Punjab under the patronage of political leaders, resulting in massive losses to the state exchequer. He declared that, upon forming the government in Punjab, a State Mining Corporation would be established, and all mining activities would be conducted under its direct supervision. This initiative would yield substantial financial benefits for the state, thereby strengthening its economic position. Strict action would be taken to eradicate drug abuse and dismantle gangster networks, with the aim of making Punjab the safest state in the country in terms of law and order. Furthermore, the prevailing "VIP culture" would be abolished, and every household in the state would be provided with 600 units of free electricity every two months. The newly appointed Punjab President announced that all women in the state would receive a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500. Moreover, a strong voice would be raised specifically to protect the interests of Punjab regarding its water resources, environment, and federal structure. A large number of party workers, including Subedar Veer Singh Chauhan, Subedar Major Lal Singh, Colonel Rajkumar, Baljit Sharma, Harman Tiwana, Amarjit Singh Sodhi, and Kulwant Singh, were present on this occasion.
