PHDCCI to Host Welcome Reception for Delhi LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu Chandigarh 3 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), through its Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh Chapters and the Regional Fashion Tex Tech Forum, will host a Welcome Reception in honour of Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, on June 5 at Hyatt Centric, Chandigarh. The event will feature a special session on “Transforming Growth: Vision, Innovation & Sustainability.” Karan Gilhotra, Chair, PHDCCI Punjab, said the event will provide a platform for industry and government stakeholders to exchange ideas on innovation and growth. Himani Arora, Chair, Regional Fashion Tex Tech Forum, said it reflects PHDCCI’s commitment to strengthening industry-government collaboration. Naveen Seth, Deputy Secretary General, PHDCCI, said the programme will promote dialogue on investment, innovation and sustainable economic development.

Employees Found Consuming Alcohol During Duty Hours at Market Committee Office Chandigarh 

Market Committee Administrator Conducts Raid; Evidence Collected and Medical Examination Ordered

Chandigarh 3 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Several employees were allegedly found consuming alcohol during office hours at the Market Committee office located in Sector 26. The Administrator of the Market Committee conducted a surprise raid, collected evidence, and ordered medical examinations of the employees involved.

According to available information, the incident took place on May 27. Acting on a credible tip-off, Khushpreet Kaur, SDM (East) and Administrator of the Market Committee, visited the temporary office situated in the Satsang Bhawan of the Market Committee. During the inspection, she allegedly found Mandi Supervisor Gurminder Singh, Kanda Man Amit Mor, Auction Recorder Karmbir Singh, and Clerk Baljinder Singh consuming alcohol during official working hours.

Khushpreet Kaur reportedly gathered evidence on the spot and arranged for photography and videography of the incident. The employees were subsequently sent to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh, for medical examination. When contacted regarding the matter, Khushpreet Kaur, SDM (East) and Administrator of the Market Committee, stated that the employees had undergone medical examination and that the administration was awaiting the hospital's report. Appropriate action would be taken once the medical report is received.

Meanwhile, Sudhir Kumar, a trader operating in the Grain Market (Anaj Mandi), Sector 26, has submitted a complaint to the Administrator alleging serious misconduct by an employee of the Market Committee. The complaint accuses the employee of issuing death threats, using abusive language, and harassing him. According to the complainant, on May 28, a day after the administrative action at the Market Committee office, he received a phone call from Jagjit Singh, Library Attendant of the Market Committee. Jagjit Singh allegedly blamed Sudhir Kumar for informing the authorities about the incident and reportedly used abusive language while threatening him and his family with dire consequences.

Sudhir Kumar has alleged that the threats caused fear and concern for the safety of himself and his family. In his complaint, he has requested a fair and thorough investigation into the matter, appropriate legal and departmental action against the concerned employee, and necessary protection for his family. Copies of the complaint have also been sent to the State Agricultural Marketing Board, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Chandigarh, and the Administrator, Market Committee, Chandigarh.
