Former Ambala MLA Candidate Latika Mahant Takes on Land Mafia, Live-Tweets PM Modi Seeking Justice

Chandigarh 8 January ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Former MLA candidate from Ambala, Latika Mahant, has leveled serious allegations against an alleged land mafia, accusing them of assault, illegal occupation and theft. Addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, she claimed that despite repeated complaints, the police administration has failed to take action—even after intervention attempts through senior leaders.

Latika Mahant stated that she was forcibly attacked at her residence in village Kathgarh, Ambala, on the evening of December 28, 2025, around 6:15 pm. According to her, 40–50 people allegedly barged into her house, assaulted her and her disciple, used abusive language, attempted to evict her forcibly, and issued life threats. She further alleged that gold, silver, cash, important documents and other valuables were stolen during the incident.

She informed that a written complaint has already been submitted to the Superintendent of Police, Ambala. In her complaint, she has named Gurmeet, his wife, son Sandeep, along with Preetpal, Mukesh, Sandeep Dippo Wala, Karnail Halwai, Bhupinder, Kuldeep, Om Prakash, Balveer (former sarpanch), Shiv Kumar and several unidentified persons.

Mahant claimed that she had legally entered into a deal for the said house for ₹4 lakh and had paid an advance of ₹50,000, which was transferred online to Gurmeet’s son Sandeep’s account. Despite this, she alleged that the accused are trying to illegally कब्जा the property. She also stated that she is a Mahant and has been granted the traditional rights of “maang-badhai” in 10 villages by her Guru, for which she possesses valid documents.

During the press conference, Latika Mahant live-tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, apprising him of the entire matter and appealing for justice. She demanded immediate restoration of her house, return of the stolen belongings and documents, and strict legal action against the accused. Expressing grave concern for her safety, she said she has been receiving continuous death threats. She warned that if justice is not delivered, she may be forced to take extreme steps, holding the administration responsible.
