Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, protest demonstrations were held across the country
Chandigarh 25 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On 25 February 2026, on the call of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, protest demonstrations were held across the country. In this sequence, the Chandigarh unit of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh organized an impactful protest near the Municipal Corporation Office in Sector 17. After the demonstration, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Chandigarh, submitted an important memorandum addressed to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Hon’ble Union Minister of Labour & Employment Mansukh Mandaviya, through the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh.
The memorandum includes several critical issues concerning workers across the country, the major points of which are as follows—
Ensuring uniform implementation of labour laws across all sectors and all categories of workers. Early resolution of concerns raised by workers regarding the Industrial Relations Code 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code 2020.
Strengthening the tripartite mechanism and ensuring regular meetings of the Indian Labour Conference and various Standing Committees. Increasing the EPS-95 pension from ₹1,000 to ₹7,500 per month and granting Dearness Relief. Increasing the wage ceiling for coverage under Employees’ State Insurance and Provident Fund. Increasing the eligibility limit for bonus. Regularisation of Central Scheme workers, contractual workers, and outsourced workers. Ensuring job security and stability by lifting the ban on regular recruitments.
Several senior office bearers associated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh from Punjab and Chandigarh addressed the protest. Prominent among them were: Narendra Ji (Organisation Minister), Pavittar Singh (General Secretary, Punjab), Badri Prasad (Organisation Minister, Chandigarh), Balwinder Singh (President, Chandigarh), Jaswant Singh Jassa (General Secretary, Chandigarh), Malkit Singh (Assistant Organisation Minister), Azad Singh (President, CTU), Ravindra Jaiswal, and others.
In conclusion, it was expressed with hope that the Government of India would take prompt and positive decisions on these essential demands of the working class with due sensitivity.
