Chandigarh 13 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The country's young generation, influenced by Western culture, has begun celebrating Valentine's Day with great pomp and show, which is completely contrary to our civilization and culture. Today marks the seventh anniversary of the martyrdom of 42 CRPF soldiers in the Pulwama attack on February 14, 2019, exactly seven years ago. This was considered a Black Day. Hearing this news, all citizens, especially the youth, should celebrate this day as Martyrs' Day. Everyone should light a candle or lamp on the wall or parapet of their home in memory of the brave soldiers who were martyred; this will be our true tribute to them. This is what Ravinder Singh Billa, Chairman of the Omkar Charitable Foundation, said.
With the cooperation of Omkar Charitable Foundation, NCC Girls Cadets of Punjab University and Market Welfare Association Sector 24, Valentine's Day was not celebrated today and tribute was paid to the true sons of the nation and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the honor and pride of the country. ADG P A K Pandey (CM Security Punjab), NCC Girls Incharge from Punjab University, Dr. Shweta Rana, and Chairperson of the Center for Social Work, Professor Monica, were also present on this occasion. All these people and others paid homage to the martyrs by lighting candles and paying homage to them. A heartfelt tribute was also paid to the innocent and unarmed people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack.The little children of Don Bosco School, Sector 24 were also specially invited for this occasion. ADGP Punjab AK Pandey said that if Valentine's Day is being celebrated as the day of love, then why should we not also love our army brothers, who are always at the forefront for the safety and security of our country and do not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the country. We salute those parents who gave birth to such brave sons, we salute those brave men who sacrificed their own interests, their families and their welfare and sacrificed their lives for the country. Other dignitaries present on the occasion said that we all should remember the true sons of our country and celebrate Memorial Day in their memory, and not Valentine's Day.
