He also demanded Rs 50 crore to Rs 70 crores annual research grant for the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to improve the research facilities for better agriculture. Four-Day ‘Ragini and Saang Utsav’ to Begin Thursday at Kalagram
Chandigarh 1 March ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : The North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) is set to organise a four-day ‘Ragini Utsav’ at Kalagram, Manimajra, beginning Thursday. The cultural festival will be held from March 12 to 15, 2026, with performances starting daily at 5:00 pm. In addition, a four-day ‘Saang Utsav’ will also be organised from March 19 onwards at the same venue.
The Ragini Utsav will showcase Haryana’s rich folk traditions and captivating ragini गायन performances. As many as 12 renowned ragini troupes from Haryana will present vibrant performances, bringing alive folk culture, traditions and social themes through music.
Similarly, during the Saang Utsav, eight prominent saang troupes will take the stage, presenting the traditional folk theatre form of Haryana known for its blend of music, storytelling and social messages.
According to NZCC Director Furqan Khan, the primary objective of these festivals is to connect the younger generation with folk arts and provide a platform to regional artists. Entry to the events has been kept free to enable maximum public participation.
Music lovers and cultural enthusiasts have been invited to attend in large numbers and experience the unique charm of Haryana’s traditional ragini and saang performances.
