CU Punjab among 6 Central Universities of India featured in Asia’s Top 300 Institutions
Bathinda 24 April ( PDL ) : Central University of Punjab has strengthened its presence on the Asian academic landscape by securing a 251–300 rank band in the prestigious Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026. The University has been placed among the top six Central Universities in India, achieving an overall score of 40.2–42.7, along with a notable Research Quality score of 69.0. The quality assessment of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) has been conducted across five components: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook, and CU Punjab has demonstrated commendable performance across all these parameters.
The University has also delivered strong performances in earlier editions of THE rankings. In the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026 (released in January 2026), CU Punjab secured rank bands of 251–300 in Medicine and Health, 401–500 in Physical Sciences, and 601–800 in Life Sciences. Additionally, the University maintained a global rank band of 601–800 in the THE World University Rankings 2026 (released in November 2025). At the national level, the University has shown a consistent upward trajectory, securing the 77th rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, along with improved standings in other national rankings. In the latest THE Asia Rankings 2026, CU Punjab is ranked among the top 31 higher education institutions in India, placing it alongside premier institutions such as IITs, NITs, and leading research universities.
