Desh Bhagat University Launches ‘Vaisakhi Vardaan’ Scholarship Scheme to Empower Families of Sewadars
Chandigarh /Mandi Gobindgarh 14 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has announced a special scholarship scheme, “Vaisakhi Vardaan – Empowering the Hands that Serve,” on the occasion of Baisakhi. The initiative, launched in collaboration with Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin, Sector 8, Chandigarh, aims to honour the service of Sewadars and Gurudwara staff.
The scholarship is exclusively for the wards and dependents of Gurudwara Sahib employees and Sewadars, helping them access quality higher education. As per the official announcement, eligible students will benefit from: 25% scholarship on all UGC-regulated regular programs, including Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, 50% scholarship on Online Learning (OL) and Open & Distance Learning (ODL) programs. Covering disciplines from Engineering and Management to Arts, Media and Hospitality, the scheme spans programs from Diploma to PhD, ensuring broad academic access. It will be applicable for the 2026–27 academic session, subject to eligibility norms.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh stated, “At Desh Bhagat University, we firmly believe in honouring the spirit of ‘Seva’. Through ‘Vaisakhi Vardaan’, we are taking a humble step towards transforming service into empowerment by providing quality education opportunities to the families of those who selflessly serve society. On this occasion, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University (DBU), distributed dastars to outstanding students from different schools of the Tricity. He also presented scholarship documents to DPS Chugh, Vice President, along with Bhupinder Singh and Satnam Singh of Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Dasvin, Sector 8, Chandigarh. The move reinforces DBU’s vision of inclusive, value-based education and its commitment to building a brighter future through equal opportunities.
