Residents of Mohali Forced to Drink Harmful Groundwater : Hardev Singh Ubha
People Bearing the Brunt of Builders' Mistakes : Hardev Singh Ubha
Chandigarh 28 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Hardev Singh Ubha, State Press Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab, has written to the Honorable Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, seeking his immediate intervention regarding the long-standing basic issues faced by the residents of villages Nanu Majra and Sambhalki, as well as Preet City (Sector 86)—all falling under Ward Number 41 of Mohali.
Hardev Singh Ubha stated that, first the Congress government and now the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab, have failed to pay any serious attention to the legitimate demands and basic amenities of the people in this region of Mohali.
He stated that the common people are today having to bear the brunt of the builders' calculated errors and the lack of government oversight. Even today, thousands of families in the region remain deprived of clean drinking water, a proper sewage system, better roads, streetlights, parks, parking facilities, community centers, and other public amenities.
He stated that the most concerning aspect is that, despite the groundwater in this region being harmful to health, people are compelled by necessity to drink that very water, which is having a negative impact on their health. They demanded that the supply of canal water be immediately ensured throughout the entire region, so that people have access to clean, safe, and potable water.
Hardev Singh Ubha stated that there is an urgent need for basic amenities in the area, such as a better sewerage system, the construction and repair of roads, sanitation facilities, streetlights, parks, open gyms, community centers, and the renovation of government schools. He said that if governments had paid attention to these issues in a timely manner, people would not have to face so many difficulties today. He expressed hope that the Honorable Governor, recognizing the gravity of this matter, would issue necessary directives to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, enabling the concerned department to take immediate action and provide basic amenities to the residents of Ward Number 41.
