A special camp was organized in the Atawa Area for the speedy resolution of water-related issues
chandigarh 2 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : To resolve pending issues related to water supply, meters, billing, and new connections for the residents of the Attawa area, a special Water Grievance Redressal Camp was organized on Saturday, May 2, 2026—from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM—at the Community Center, Sector 42, Chandigarh, through the efforts of Ward No. 24 Councilor Jasbir Singh and in collaboration with the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. During this special camp, senior officials of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation—including S.D.O. Lalit Kumar and J.E. Dilip Singh from the Water Supply Branch, as well as officials from the Meter Branch and employees from concerned departments—were present on-site, and public grievances were resolved on the spot.
During the camp, SDO Lalit Kumar explained in detail to the residents present which necessary documents needed to be prepared and submitted for new water connections, meter bifurcation, and other pending matters. He gave an assurance that if people submitted the prescribed documents in full, the formalities regarding their water connections would be completed within approximately one month.Additionally, SDO Lalit Kumar instructed the departmental staff present at the site to provide residents with comprehensive information in simple language, explaining how applications are submitted online, the procedure for file approval, and how their work can be processed without any difficulties.
At this camp, specific hearings were held and solutions provided for the following issues—
- New water connections
- Segregation of water meters for separate households
- Complaints regarding meter readings and defective meters
- Cases related to the disconnection of commercial water connections
- Correction of errors in water bills
- All other complaints related to water supply
Councilor Jasbir Singh stated that numerous families in the area had long been plagued by water-related issues, erroneous billing, meter disputes, and pending connection cases. With the objective of sparing the general public the hassle of repeatedly visiting Municipal Corporation offices, this public welfare camp was organized by bringing together all relevant officials at a single location, thereby ensuring that people could receive prompt, transparent, and effective resolutions.
He stated that the convenience of the public and the resolution of their problems are his top priority, and that in the future as well, relief will be provided to the people by organizing public welfare camps in this manner.
Jasbir Singh expressed his gratitude to all the residents for their cooperation and, while thanking the Municipal Corporation officials, stated that the department and the elected representatives would work together continuously to resolve the issues facing the area.
