Chandigarh 3 April ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : PWD Field and Workshop Workers Union Punjab will protest against the Local Government Department and the heads of the Department of Sewerage Board on May 7 in Chandigarh regarding the demands of the employees of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The leaders of the organization are State President Makhan Singh Wahidpuri, General Secretary Phuman Singh Kathgarh, Senior Vice President Balraj Singh Maur, Jasvir Singh Khokhar, Harpreet Grewal, Satnam Singh, Darshan Cheema, Rajpal Singh Lasoi, Kishore Chand Gaj, Lakhwinder Khanpur, Tar Singh Gill, Prem Kumar Gurdaspur, Darshan Sharma, Sukhchain Singh, Kulwant Singh Bathinda, Harnek Gehri, Sanjeev Kondal, Sukhdev Changaliwala, Suresh Mohali, said that pension is not being given to the employees working in the Sewerage Board for a long time, while pension is being given in other boards and corporations and various wings of the Local Government Department.
In this regard, the Punjab Government has already issued instructions, that the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board had agreed to provide pension by passing the agenda in the meeting of the Board of Directors at its level, but the Local Government Department is repeatedly objecting and the case is being returned. Despite the instructions given in the meetings of the organization three times with the Finance Minister and the Local Government Minister of the Sub-Committee, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sewerage Board and the Local Government Department are not taking any action regarding the provision of this pension, while many meetings have been held with these officials in this regard. But it is very sad that even after accepting the demands in the meeting, the demands are not being implemented. Along with this, including outsourced and contract workers in the department and making them permanent, increasing salaries like the raw employees of Chandigarh until a regular policy is made, giving ACP benefits to the employees made permanent under the 2016 policy in the department, implementing 20,30,50, and implementing promotion channels, making service rules in the Sewerage Board and recruiting thousands of vacant posts in the board, giving retirement funds to retired employees on time, paying salaries to field employees in the mandis on time, getting EPF deposits of raw employees who have not been deposited for 2-2 years etc. On May 7, 2026, thousands of Punjab employees will protest in front of the office of the Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Sewerage Board at 35A Chandigarh with demands. The responsibility for which will be the CEO of the Sewerage Board and the Additional Chief Secretary of Local Governments and the Punjab Government.
