Chandigarh 1 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On May 1, 2026, Sanyukt Karamchari Morcha, representing thousands of daily wage, contractual, and outsourcing workers, honored labour martyrs, hoisted flag and distributed sweets at Sector 23 Ground.
Leaders condemned the Chandigarh Administration’s refusal to regularize employees with 10-20+ years of dedicated service on essential posts, calling the “permanent temporariness” policy unjust, unconstitutional, and a betrayal. Despite proper selection and unblemished records, these workers lack job security, pensions, and equal pay for identical work. The Administration’s “no central policy” excuse is legally untenable.
Core Demands: Immediate one-time regularization for all Daily wage -Contractual employees with 10+ years continuous service via special cadre or supernumerary posts. Abolish exploitative GeM outsourcing; create transparent centralized agency like Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam. Enforce “Similar Pay for Similar Work.” as per Labour Laws. Abolition of New Labour codes. Further delays will trigger litigation,contempt proceedings, and protests. Request has also been made to Home Ministry,Administrator and Chandigarh administration. A press conference will announce next steps. Regularization is a Constitutional Right — Not a Favour! End Exploitation Now! Workers’ Unity Zindabad!
