Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh Demands Reinstatement of Outsourced Employees Dismissed from CTU
Meeting with Chandigarh Administrator, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, to be Held Soon in Support of Demands
Forced to Resort to Agitation if Demands Are Not Met
Chandigarh 23 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : In a meeting held today, key executive members of the Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), Chandigarh, highlighted the grave issues faced by contract and outsourced employees working within the U.T. Administration, the Municipal Corporation, and various boards and departments, demanding that their job security be ensured. The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh stated that during previous 'Janata Darbars' (public hearings), these two issues—along with the specific issue of outsourced employees dismissed from the CTU—had already been raised before the Chandigarh Administrator. However, to date, the Chandigarh Administration has failed to take any positive action regarding these matters.
The outsourced employees terminated from the CTU remain compelled to sit at home, still awaiting the arrival of new buses, while their families endure immense hardship. The Sangh has demanded the immediate reinstatement of these dismissed outsourced employees. Office bearers of the Sangh noted that thousands of contract and outsourced employees—who have been rendering services to the Chandigarh Administration and the Municipal Corporation for extended periods, spanning decades—are currently working in an environment of insecurity. Despite having served continuously for years, the absence of a central, permanent policy leaves thousands of these contract and outsourced employees deeply anxious about their own futures and that of their families.
The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh has demanded that contract employees who have completed a significant tenure of service be regularized through the formulation of a one-time policy. Furthermore, they demanded that outsourced employees be brought under a centralized government mechanism—such as the 'Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam'—rather than remaining under the purview of private contractors or the GeM portal system, thereby ensuring their job security from the point of recruitment through to retirement. The Union stated that employees are entitled to a dignified wage for equal work, along with benefits such as social security, EPF, ESI, and continuity of service. To prevent the exploitation of employees and to ensure stability in administrative operations, it is the need of the hour for the Chandigarh Administration to formulate a robust and secure policy specifically for these contractual and outsourced workers.
The Union also expressed its intention to seek an early meeting with the Administrator of Chandigarh to discuss these issues. The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has appealed to the Administration and the Government to consider these demands with sensitivity and to take a positive decision expeditiously; failing which, the organization will be compelled to resort to agitation.
