Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Inaugurates Reeshan Foundation’s Mega Blood Donation Camp
Thousands Participate Enthusiastically; Pledges for Eye and Organ Donation Also Undertaken
Chandigarh 18 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Reeshan Foundation, Chandigarh, organized its second mega blood donation camp on Monday at the Community Centre in Sector 19. The camp was inaugurated by Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the beginning of the event. Along with blood donation, a large number of participants also pledged for eye and organ donation by filling consent forms. Foundation members Arun Sood and Sanjeev Sood welcomed the chief guest with bouquets. After inaugurating the camp, Governor Kataria visited the venue, interacted with blood donors and medical teams, and appreciated their humanitarian efforts. He also distributed appreciation certificates to the donors.
The organizers informed that medical teams from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Government Hospitals Sector 16 and Sector 32, Sohana Hospital Mohali, and Government Hospital Sector 6 Panchkula participated in the camp. During the drive, PGI collected 73 units of blood, Sector 32 Hospital 83 units, Sector 16 Hospital 57 units, Sohana Hospital 41 units, and Panchkula Hospital 20 units. Additionally, 100 people registered for eye donation while 15 pledged for organ donation.The camp witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities, including Additional Solicitor General Satya Pal Jain, former MP Kirron Kher, BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra, former MP Banto Kataria, former MP Pawan Kumar Bansal, Mayor Saurav Joshi, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasmanpreet Singh, Deputy Mayor Suman Sharma, Gurinder Singh Bhatti GB Reality Chairman, Congress Chandigarh President Harminder Lucky, AAP Chandigarh President Vijay Pal, along with representatives of various social, religious, and business organizations, who encouraged and motivated the donors.
Arun Sood shared that on May 18, 2024, his nephew Ishaan and his friends Reet, Ribhu, and Kushagra lost their lives in a tragic road accident. All of them were graduates of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. In their memory, the foundation has been organizing blood donation camps since last year. Addressing the gathering, Governor Kataria said that blood donation is one of the greatest forms of human service and urged every individual to donate blood at least twice a year to help save lives. He also encouraged the youth to actively participate in noble causes such as blood donation, eye donation, and organ donation. At the conclusion of the event, Arun Sood and Sanjeev Sood expressed gratitude to all blood donors, distinguished guests, doctors, and volunteers for their valuable contribution in making the camp a grand success.
