Wake up call for Punjab : WarringSays, terrorists releasing video footage of Amritsar cop’s killing is worrisome
Chandigarh 28 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the terrorists releasing the alleged video footage showing the killing of an ASI in Amritsar is a cause of serious concern and much worrisome. “It is a wake up call for Punjab”, he warned, while regretting that those responsible do not seem to be taking the matter seriously. The PCC president said that it is quite serious and alarming that the terrorists had the audacity, first to kill a cop who was going to join his duty and video record it and eventually release it in the public domain.
He regretted that the Punjab Police was earlier in denial mode and refused to accept that it was a terror related incident. Had the video footage not come into public notice, the police would never have accepted that it was a terror related killing, he observed. Warring referred to earlier killing of two cops in Gurdaspur area, saying this only shows that the terrorists have gained the ability to kill our cops at their will.
The PCC president urged the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the union Home Minister Amit Shah to take the matter very seriously as it poses a grave threat to peace in Punjab. “Punjab cannot afford another dark era of terror”, he warned, while appealing to the state and the central governments to nip the evil in the bud, before it is too late.
