Warring seeks dismissal of DSP who made gangster speak to Cong leader
Incident happened in Ferozepur, where Congress candidates were being prevented from filing nomination papers
Chandigarh 16 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded the dismissal of a Deputy Superintendent of Police, named Karan, for making some gangster ‘Sekhon’ speak to Congress leader Ashu Bhangar to intimidate and threaten him. Disclosing this today, Warring said, Ashu Bhangar was accompanying the candidates for municipal elections to file their nomination papers in Ferozepur. He said the particular gangster, identified as ‘Sekhon’ and his supporters were trying to intimidate Bhangar and warning him not to accompany the Congress candidates to file the nominations.To Bhangar’s shock and surprise it was the DSP Karan who made the gangster Sekhon speak to him (Bhangar).
Warring demanded immediate dismissal of the said DSP besides an FIR against him under strict provisions of law. He said, in any case, it is a matter of a few months more when the Congress will be in power and the officers like DSP Karan will not only be dismissed from the service, but will also be dealt strictly according to the law. The PCC president said that the Congress has been maintaining from day one that Punjab Police was in collusion with the gangsters and today DSP Karan had proved it.
Moreover, he asked, if the Punjab Police were not colluding with the gangsters, how would Lawrence Bishnoi’s television interview be allowed to be done from inside the jail. Warring disclosed that the Congress candidates who were going to file nomination papers, were attacked and one of their lady candidates had been so mercilessly beaten that her both legs got fractured. Issuing an ultimatum to the government and the police, he reiterated that it is a matter of a few months more when everyone will be held to account. He congratulated the Congress workers for putting up a brave and courageous fight against the gangsters, the government and the police intimidation.
