Director Census Operations, Punjab Reviews Progress of Census 2027 Phase-I in Bathinda

Bathinda 30 May ( PDL ) : A review meeting to assess the progress of Census 2027: Phase-I – Houselisting and Housing Operations in the District Bathinda was chaired by Dr. Navjot Khosa IAS, Director Census Operations, Punjab along with Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, Shri Rajesh Dhiman IAS, Municipal Commissioner Bathinda, Ms. Lovejeet Kalsi PCS. The meeting was attended The meeting was attended by concerned officers, Charge Officers, and officials associated with the Census work.

During the review, the Director examined the progress made by 2,530 Enumerators and 420 Supervisors engaged in the Census activities across the district. She appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Charge Officers and field staff for their commendable performance in carrying out the Phase-I Census operations efficiently.

Emphasizing the importance of timely completion of all assigned tasks, she directed the officers to ensure that the remaining Census activities are completed before the second week of June 2026. She also stressed the need for close monitoring and effective coordination among all to achieve the targets within the stipulated timeframe.

Expressing satisfaction over the pace and quality of the ongoing Census work in Bathinda district, the Director commended the district administration and Census functionaries for their commitment and hard work. She expressed confidence that the district would successfully complete all Census-related activities as scheduled. The Director Census Operations also conducted a field inspection to review the quality of the census exercise on the ground. She instructed the Principal Census Officers to ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality in data collection through continuous monitoring and regular surprise inspections.

In view of the prevailing heatwave conditions in the district, all Enumerators and Supervisors engaged in field activities were advised to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health and well-being. Field staff was advised to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, stay adequately hydrated, wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothing, use caps or umbrellas while outdoors, and take regular breaks in shaded or cool areas while carrying out field duties. They were also advised to remain alert for symptoms of heat-related illnesses such as dizziness, excessive fatigue, headache, or dehydration and seek immediate medical assistance, if required.

Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda assured that all census-related activities in District Bathinda would be completed well within the stipulated timeframe. He informed that the Census 2027: Phase-I – Houselisting and Housing Operations in Punjab is being conducted from 15 May 2026 to 13 June 2026, and the district administration is making all necessary efforts to ensure the successful and timely completion of the exercise. The district administration remains committed to conducting the census operations efficiently and in accordance with the prescribed guidelines to ensure the collection of accurate and reliable data. The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion on the roadmap for the timely completion of the remaining Census operations.
