Successful Mega Health Checkup Camp Held in Village Attawa; Hundreds Avail Free Health Services
Chandigarh 30 May ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A massive mega health checkup camp was successfully organized at the Government Dispensary and Anganwadi Center located in Village Attawa, through the joint efforts of the Nature Nine Foundation, the Chandigarh Tent Dealers Society, and the area's Councilor and Former Senior Deputy Mayor, Jasbir Singh Bunty. Despite inclement weather and rain, local residents participated enthusiastically in the camp and availed themselves of the free health services on offer. During the camp, eye examinations were conducted by specialist doctors from the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh. Over 200 people underwent eye checkups, and those found to have impaired vision were provided with free spectacles.
Additionally, Dr. Sankalp Sharma, a Senior Cardiologist from Park Hospital, Sector-69, Mohali, provided screening and consultation services for cardiac ailments. He announced that patients visiting Park Hospital would not be charged any OPD fees, and medical treatment would be made available at a minimal cost. Eligible beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat scheme would also be provided with free treatment facilities, in accordance with the scheme's regulations. Dr. Tushar, In-charge of the Government Dispensary and a Medicine Specialist, also contributed his expertise by examining patients and offering necessary medical advice. Key health services—such as free eye checkups, cardiac screenings, blood sugar and blood pressure tests, general health checkups, and ECGs—were made available at the camp.
A large number of people took advantage of these facilities to get their health checked. Speaking on the occasion, Jasbir Singh Bunty, Councilor and Former Senior Deputy Mayor of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, stated that it is the collective responsibility of all to ensure that healthcare facilities reach every last person in society. Such health camps not only provide people with timely access to screening and treatment but also serve to raise their awareness regarding health and wellness. He expressed his gratitude to all the collaborating organizations, doctors, and volunteers for the successful organization of the camp. Also present at the event, Amandeep Singh, General Secretary of the Chandigarh Tent Dealers Society, arranged for the health checkups of the Tent Union members and pledged to continue supporting such community service initiatives. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, social workers, and local residents, including Rajkumar Sharma (President, RWA), Trilochan Singh Bunty, Neha Gupta, Amandeep Singh, Rajendra Arora, Tarsem Sharma, and Pawan Singh. This health camp proved to be immensely beneficial for the local residents and emerged as a significant initiative towards building a healthy society and a healthy nation.
