Chandigarh 10 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today lashed out at Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for the brutal action of his government against the unemployed youth, first the trained ITI apprentices and now against the linemen. The PCC president also criticized Chief Minister Mann and the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for identifying Punjab traders with a particular religion. He reminded the duo that Punjabis do not believe in sectarian divisions like it (the Mann-Kejriwal duo) was trying to project. He said, it is a fact that the BJP has been intimidating people across the board, but by giving a sectarian colour to it, the AAP leaders were only trying to benefit the same party by promoting its divisive tactics.

Warring condemned the police action today in which the tents of the protesting linemen were smashed and uprooted and they were forcibly disbursed. He said, just some days ago, the police had used similar brutal force against the ITI apprentices.

So much so, the PCC president noted that even the media were barred from reporting the incidents. “Under Mann, Punjab has reached a stage where media is barred from the protest site in Patiala, young boys are fainting, and instead of listening to them, police are tearing down tents and using abusive language”, he said, adding, it is the same Bhagwant Mann who once claimed to be the voice of Punjab’s youth. “Today, his government is trying to crush that very voice”, he remarked.

“Is this the democracy Punjab voted for, or Bhagwant Mann’s dictatorship?” he asked, adding a government, which is afraid of questions resorts to force. “Punjab’s youth deserve dialogue, not repression”, he added. Warring recalled that before the elections Mann used to rush to protest sites to promise jobs once AAP formed government and after polls Mann says he has ‘no time to meet’.

The PCC president said the situation has reached such a passé that Punjab youth risk their lives on 440KV towers after the Punjab government went back on its promise to provide the jobs. “On the one hand, you project yourself as an ‘Aam Aadmi’ leader, visiting villages and holding public meetings, while on the other hand, unemployed youth of Punjab are being denied even a few minutes of your time”, he told Mann.
