NS NIS Patiala Celebrates World Bicycle Day with Enthusiastic Participation
Patiala 7 June ( PDL ) : Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NS NIS), Patiala, celebrated World Bicycle Day with great enthusiasm and a strong message promoting fitness, healthy living, and environmental sustainability. The event witnessed the participation of more than 300 cyclists who took part in a 7-kilometre cycling rally organized on the occasion. The programme was graced by several distinguished guests, including Dr. Pushpinder Singh Gill, Vice Chancellor, MBSS University, Patiala; Col. Parminder Singh Sidhu, Registrar, MBSS University, Patiala; Kanwer Singh Gill; Retd. Capt. P. S. Bedi; Nagesh Gupta; S. K. Gautam, Administrator, MBSS University, Patiala; Dr. Saravjeet Kaur, Assistant Professor, MBSS University, Patiala; Advocate Kuldeep Singh, who led a group of 40 cyclists; Mr. Nikhil from Decathlon, accompanied by 50 cyclists; Harinder Singh Lamba of MPMS Group; and Olympian Annu Rani.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of more than 100 personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), including officers and jawans, who actively joined the cycling rally and supported the cause of fitness and healthy living. The 7-kilometre cycling rally was ceremonially flagged off by Olympian Annu Rani in the presence of the distinguished guests and participants. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from cyclists representing various institutions, organizations, and cycling groups. Addressing the gathering, Vineet Kumar, Deputy Director General, NS NIS Patiala, emphasized the importance of regular physical activity and adopting a healthy lifestyle. He highlighted the significance of cycling as an effective and eco-friendly means of maintaining fitness and explained the objectives of the Fit India Movement, encouraging people to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines.
The cycling rally was conducted successfully and served as a platform to spread awareness about fitness, environmental sustainability, and the benefits of cycling. Participants from different age groups demonstrated their commitment to a healthy and active lifestyle through their enthusiastic involvement. At the conclusion of the event, refreshments were distributed to all participants.
