THE PUBLIC WILL ANSWER BASELESS ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MP MANISH TEWARI; THE MP IS CONTINUOUSLY WORKING ON PUBLIC ISSUES: CHANDIGARH CONGRESS
Chandigarh 5 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Reacting strongly to the allegations leveled by BJP leader Sanjay Tandon against Member of Parliament (MP) Manish Tewari, Chandigarh Congress Minority Department Chairman Asif Choudhary stated that the BJP's statements are entirely politically motivated and completely far from the ground realities. He emphasized that MP Manish Tewari has been consistently and forcefully raising the issues of Chandigarh's residents in Parliament and before the Central Government.
Echoing these thoughts, social activist Imran Mansoori pointed out that the social security pension for Chandigarh’s senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities (Divyangjan) has not been increased since 2016. He noted that MP Manish Tewari has repeatedly demanded a pension hike in Parliament and before the concerned ministries. "Since the BJP is in power at the Centre, they must answer why there has been no respectful increase in the pensions of the elderly and the disabled till date, especially at a time when inflation is continuously skyrocketing," Mansoori said.
He further highlighted that MP Manish Tewari has been relentlessly raising the issue of the Dadumajra garbage dump. It is a direct result of his persistent pressure and advocacy in Parliament and various ministries that the disposal process at the Dadumajra dumping ground was expedited, and concrete steps were taken toward eliminating the garbage mountain.
Chandigarh Congress District President Surjit Singh Dhillon stated that MP Manish Tewari has also consistently championed the cause of Housing Board residents, rehabilitation colony dwellers, government employees, youth, and educational institutions. He added that since Chandigarh is a Union Territory, many crucial decisions fall under the direct jurisdiction of the Central Government and the local Administration; despite this, MP Tewari has never wavered in taking the voice of the public straight to Parliament.
Chandigarh Congress State Secretary Sanjay Bhajni remarked that instead of just leveling allegations, BJP leaders should answer what major decisions the Central Government has taken for the development of Chandigarh and the welfare of its senior citizens, disabled individuals, and the general public. He added that the public now wants to see real work and results, not mere rhetoric.
Former Mayor Surender Singh concluded by saying that the people of Chandigarh are watching everything closely. In the times to come, the public itself will decide the difference between those who actually work on the ground and those who merely make allegations.
