World Environment Day Observed; Tree Plantation Drive Conveys Message of Environmental Conservation
Chandigarh 5 June ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Jasbir Singh Bunty, former Senior Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, organized a tree plantation drive in village Itawa alongside his daughter Deep Kawal, local residents, and shopkeepers. The event commenced with the planting of Ayurvedic and herbal saplings. Several prominent citizens were present on the occasion, including SDO Rohit Garg, Rajkumar Sharma, Yugal Sharma, Gurbachan Billa, Pawan Singla, Pushpendra Singh, and Jagtar Singh. Taking a pledge to protect the environment, everyone conveyed the message of planting as many trees as possible and ensuring their proper care.
Addressing the gathering, former Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that the saplings planted today would grow into large trees in the coming years, providing us with fresh air, shade, and fruit. He emphasized that, given the rising pollution, the earth's steadily increasing temperature, and depleting water levels, tree plantation is crucial for environmental conservation. He remarked that the environment is the foundation of our lives; we receive clean air, pure water, and greenery from nature. If we fail to protect the environment today, future generations could face numerous challenges. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every citizen to actively contribute to environmental conservation. He urged people to reduce plastic usage, promote water conservation, and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. At the conclusion of the event, all those present took a collective pledge to keep the "Plant trees, save the environment, and secure the future for coming generations."
