Breaking promises with employees and pensioners will not be tolerated, MLA office Mohali will be surrounded on July 8

S.A.S.Nagar 3 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A meeting of Punjab Employees and Pensioners Joint Front and Joint Employees Forum was held under the chairmanship of State Convener Sukhdev Singh Saini. In the meeting, a coordination committee of Mohali district was formed, in which representatives of various employee and pensioner organizations were elected as members.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the office of Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh will be jointly surrounded on July 8 in protest against the Punjab government not resolving the long-pending legitimate demands of employees and pensioners.

State Convener Sukhdev Singh Saini said that the Bhagwant Mann government has neglected the legitimate demands of employees and pensioners during its four and a half years in office. He said that the government is withdrawing the benefits given by the previous Pay Commissions and is filing appeals against them instead of implementing the decisions given in favor of the employees and pensioners by the courts. The meeting demanded that the old pension scheme be fully restored without delay, the benefits of grade-pay taken away under the Fifth Pay Commission be restored, the wages of raw, work-charge and enlisted employees be regularized and the honorariums due to Anganwadi, Mid-Day Meal and ASHA workers be given.

The leaders alleged that 37 types of allowances including rural allowances, border allowances have been discontinued. The recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission have not been fully implemented, the multiplier of 2.59 has not been given to the pensioners and the arrears of previous installments including 18 percent dearness allowance have not been released yet. The leaders warned that if the government did not immediately address the demands of the employees and pensioners, the struggle would be intensified at the state level. They appealed to all employees, pensioners and organizations to participate in large numbers in the protest to be held in Mohali on July 8.
