SC-BC Morcha President Balwinder Kumbhra visited the workshops of truck body builders in Fatehgarh Sahib
All the truck body builders honored the President and apprised him of their grievances
"The SC-BC Morcha will not let even a single body builder be displaced; we stand firmly with them," said Kumbhra.
S.A.S.Nagar 18 July ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A major press conference was recently held at the SC-BC Morcha office in Phase-7, Mohali, led by President Balwinder Singh Kumbhra, regarding the issue of the proposed removal of truck and bus body-building workshops in Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. During the event, the body builders explained that the Punjab government had issued a notification to dismantle these workshops—which had been purchased by their ancestors and operated for years—and had transferred the land to the Marketing Board, even though the Board already possessed sufficient land. Protesting this decision, Morcha leaders had announced that a *Chakka Jam* (road blockade) would be staged in Fatehgarh Sahib if the notification was not revoked within 15 days. Written memoranda regarding this matter had also been submitted to the Governor of Punjab, the Chief Minister, and the Chairman of the Punjab Marketing Board.
In this context, SC-BC Morcha President Balwinder Singh Kumbhra personally visited Fatehgarh Sahib and inspected the site. Following the inspection, he stated that all the workshops were completely legal, yet the government intended to ruin these individuals by snatching away their long-standing livelihoods. He remarked that these body builders had voted the Aam Aadmi Party into power and supported the party wholeheartedly—with their time, effort, and resources—but it was unfortunate that the very same government was now bent on destroying their means of livelihood. Kumbhra asserted that the SC-BC Morcha and all social organizations stood firmly in support of the truck body builders and vowed that not even an inch of their land would be allowed to be taken away. The Morcha is fully prepared to wage whatever struggle is necessary for this cause and will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all the bodybuilders.
On this occasion, the bodybuilders honored President Balwinder Singh Kumbhra and his associates by presenting them with *Siropas* (robes of honor) and garlands; they expressed their confidence that the SC-BC Morcha would extend its full support to help save their long-standing livelihoods. Those present at the event included Tilak Raj Saggu, Chairman Balwinder Singh, Cashier Sohan Singh, General Secretary Jaspreet Singh, former President Harmesh Singh, former Councilor Krishan Singh, Meharpal Singh Vicky, Kulwinder Singh Bunty, Jaswinder Singh Marwah, Harbhajan Singh Guddu, Kuldeep Singh, Tejinder Singh Gale, Baldev Singh, Isu Gupta, Harvinder Singh, Balveer Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Kanchan Singh, Harpal Singh, and Parminder Singh, among others.
