Western Himalaya heating faster than the east; stands to lose most snow in coming years: Study Chandigarh 20 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : A new study combining 120 years of observed temperature records (1901–2020) with eight global climate models finds that the western Himalaya (Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh) is warming faster than the central and eastern stretches of the range, in every season and under every emission scenario tested. Winter is warming faster than spring, night-time temperatures are climbing faster than daytime highs, and springtime snow loss over the western Himalaya could be three times larger on a high-emission pathway than on a low-emission one by the end of the century. Elections for the management committee of Gurdwara Sahib Sector 46 D concluded.
Kuldeep Singh was elected unopposed as President
Chandigarh 20 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Elections for the management committee of Gurdwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, Sector 46D, Chandigarh, concluded. Under the guidance of Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) preachers Giani Rajpal Singh and Giani Satnam Singh presented a proposal to the Sangat for the selection of the management committee. The Sangat unanimously accepted the proposal, leading to the formation of a new committee.
In the election process, Kuldeep Singh was elected as the Chief Servant and President. Gurjaswinder Singh was given the responsibility of General Secretary. Baljit Singh, Kulwinder Singh, and Karamjit Singh were also given responsibilities for various services. Karamjit Singh was given the responsibility of langar service. Newly appointed head Kuldeep Singh expressed his gratitude to the entire congregation and said that everyone's cooperation is essential to further the religious and social services of Gurdwara Sahib with even greater dedication and commitment. He especially thanked Bhai Surjit Singh Ji, Bhai Kuldeep Singh Ji, Sardar Kulwinder Singh Ji, and the entire staff.
He appealed to the Sangat to cooperate together to run all the services of Gurudwara Sahib in a better manner and contribute enthusiastically in the service of the Guru's house. Karamjit Singh was elected as the main sevadar for the langar service, Gurjaswinder Singh, Baljit Singh, Kulwinder Singh, and Karamjit Singh as the general secretaries. Harjit Singh, Manjit Singh, TP Singh, Nirmal Singh, Amritpal Singh, Joginder Singh, Bibi Surinder Kaur, Dharam Kaur, Daljit Kaur, and Sarabjit Singh Sidhu, along with Hardeep Singh and Manmohan Singh, were also present.
Newly elected President Kuldeep Singh assured to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to him with dedication, honesty and devotion and said that for the safety and dignity of Sikhs and the sect, he appeals to everyone to work together. He specially thanked Bhai Surjeet Singh, Bhai Kuldeep Singh, Kulwinder Singh and all the staff of the Sangat present on the occasion and requested everyone to cooperate in providing all the services with more dedication.
