Go Green Drive: Two-Day Environmental Awareness Campaign to be Held Across Punjab at District Level
Chandigarh 20 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab will witness a two-day ‘Go Green Drive’ on August 22 and 23, aimed at promoting environmental protection and increasing green cover. The campaign will encourage people to plant more trees, ensure their regular care and develop greater awareness about environmental conservation. The campaign will be launched at the district level from Mandi Gobindgarh. Environmental awareness activities will also be organised in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Moga, along with other districts across Punjab.
Ritik Arora, Chairman of the Social Justice Commission, said the objective of the campaign is not merely to plant trees but also to encourage people to take responsibility for their regular care and survival. He said environmental protection is a collective responsibility and every individual must contribute towards creating a greener and healthier environment. During the campaign, local residents, social organisations and youth will be involved in plantation drives and environmental awareness activities. The initiative aims to spread the message of increasing green cover and protecting nature among a larger section of society.
