Congress to bring people’s manifesto in Punjab : Dr Amar Singh Chandigarh 21 August 21: The Punjab Congress has begun preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, with its newly constituted Manifesto Committee deciding to make the party’s election manifesto a “people’s manifesto” by seeking suggestions and demands from all sections of society across the state. The first meeting of the Manifesto Committee appointed by the All India Congress Committee was held here today. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Committee Dr Amar Singh, former Punjab minister Pargat Singh, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Hardial Singh Kambhoj. The committee held detailed discussions on the process of preparing the manifesto and emphasised that it should be a genuine reflection of the aspirations, concerns and priorities of Punjabis rather than being formulated solely within the party organisation. Health talk on World Senior Citizens Day held at Max

Chandigarh 21 August ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : To mark World Senior Citizens Day, an informative health talk on ortho and neurology-related health concerns affecting senior citizens to mark World Senior Citizens Day was held at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali on Friday. The members from senior citizens from the community and various Senior Citizen Associations participated in the talk which focused on the common health concerns associated with ageing, including joint pain, arthritis, mobility issues and neurological conditions, while highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare and timely medical consultation.

Speaking during the talk, Dr. Gaurav Saini, Associate Director – Ortho & Joint Replacement said, “Arthritis is a common condition among senior citizens and can significantly affect mobility and quality of life. Symptoms may include joint pain, stiffness, swelling, tenderness and reduced flexibility. Early evaluation and appropriate treatment can help manage symptoms and support mobility. Regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight and seeking timely medical advice can help senior citizens stay active and independent.”

Dr. Sawan Kumar Verma, Associate Director – Neurology said, “Ageing can bring changes in the nervous system, making older adults more susceptible to neurological concerns such as stroke, memory problems, seizures, difficulty in walking and speech-related changes. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, staying physically active and seeking medical attention when new neurological symptoms appear can help in timely diagnosis and management.”
