Warring seeks answers from BJP over smuggling of drugs into India Says, saffron party playing friendly match with its B-team in Punjab on drugs Asserts, buck stops at union Home Minister Amit Shah Chandigarh 17 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the centre over the smuggling of huge quantity of drugs into India, particularly through Punjab borders, saying that the buck stops at the union Home Minister Amit Shah, who controls the Border Security Force. Reacting to the proposed ‘yatra’ of the BJP against drugs in Punjab, Warring said, it is indeed a fact that the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has not only failed to curb the drugs, but has added to the problem. He said, the AAP has been a complete disaster in curbing the drugs. But, he added, the BJP government at the centre cannot escape the responsibility either. Keeping Punjab out of the new arrangement for the Kishau Dam and Upper Yamuna raises serious questions : Giani Harpreet Singh Why has the 1994 arrangement not been reviewed after 2025, with Punjab included in the process? He said the Central Government must clarify why there is no provision for Punjab's representation or consideration of Punjab's interests in the waters of the Upper Yamuna and in new projects associated with it. Congress Leaders Raise Concerns Over Charges on UPI Transactions Above ₹2,000 S.A.S.Nagar 17 September ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Congress leaders have raised concerns over discussions regarding the possible imposition of additional charges on UPI merchant transactions above ₹2,000. They said that any additional cost on digital payments could increase the financial burden on small traders and eventually affect consumers. Vishal Sharma, General Secretary of Punjab Congress Seva Dal, and Rajni Dixit, Secretary of the Mohali District Congress Women’s Wing, said that if an additional charge is imposed on merchant transactions above ₹2,000, it could increase the operating costs of traders.
