AAP’s Zero-Tolerance Policy Does Not Apply to Its Own MLAs : Khanna
Demands Probe by a Sitting Judge and ED Intervention
Chandigarh 28 February ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Allegations of financial dealings in the appointment of the Bhawanigarh Truck Union president and an attempted suicide by a truck operator have raised serious questions about the Punjab government's so-called "zero-tolerance" policy against corruption. BJP State Vice President Shri Khanna, in a statement, alleged that the policy is selectively enforced, applying only to lower-level employees while shielding AAP legislators. Khanna accused AAP MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj and her husband of negotiating a ₹30 lakh deal for the truck union presidency, citing a viral video that allegedly provides evidence of the transaction. He demanded an impartial probe by a sitting judge, emphasizing that the public has lost faith in state investigative agencies. He further alleged that AAP’s block president, Gurpreet Singh, who is reportedly close to MLA Bharaj, is involved in the case. However, attempts are now being made to distance him from the controversy. Khanna called on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to prove his commitment to anti-corruption measures by initiating an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation into the case. He also claimed that MLA Bharaj was unjustly dragging BJP leaders Gurtej Jhaneri and Vipan Sharma into the matter, despite their long-standing association with the truck union and their advocacy for transport operators’ rights.
